Simple, practical security concepts.

When every human has electronics and many of them are connected constantly|thoughtlessly|effortlessly to massive global networks, it is entirely reasonable to consider how you can impose control on interactions with information related to you. This information isn’t always of private nature but it is still yours, and you should absolutely have a right to know who has it, how they want to use it, and the ability to revoke access to it. This, at the core, is what cybersecurity is about.

Confidentiality. Integrity. Availability.

Everyday people and beginners in the cybersecurity space have hoards of information available regarding information security in the modern day. The wealth of information can often make it difficult to find a starting point or determine what is reasonable when implementing security in your life. More often than not conversation about security basics drifts into the realm of opinion and special consideration, far beyond the scope of what most new and aspiring people to security will fully appreciate. There certainly are good resources out there, and hopefully you will find them referenced here in these segments.

With this in mind, the primary goal of this site will be to give people a reasonable entrypoint into an area of thought. The segments posted here should not be considered authoritative answers on how to secure yourself or others, but rather offer a place to initialize a plan and establish context for thinking about security in your life. So when you read or watch a segment, do not be disparaged if you have questions. Talking about security should always raise questions, even when it offers answers, because everyones threat model is a little bit different.

My threat model is probably not your threat model.
